Expression of sfGFP over a standard growth curve. The Fim switch strain was co-cultured with the reporter strain (K2205015) which expresses sfGFP in response to C4-AHL. FimW indicates a white Fim switch reporter in the [ON] state, where the promoter region produces C4-AHL. FimR indicates a red Fim switch reporter in the native [OFF] state which does not produce C4-AHL. Each data point it the mean of 3 biological replicates.

| Expression of sfGFP over a standard growth curve. Fim Standby Switch
As an improvement on the Tokyo Tech 2015 team part BBa_K1632011The Fim switch is a processing module for the Sensynova framework, it is designed to continuously express the red chromoprotein eforRed (K592012) to indicate that the part is functional. The FimE protein (K137007) flips a 300bp promoter region which switches expression from eforRed to rhlI (J64718). This produces the quorum sensing molecule C4-AHL which can be used to activate downstream reporter cells.
