Miraculin

Construct needed to produce the protein miraculin, responsible for the taste-altering effects of the berries from the plant "Synsepalum Dulcificum". This part is a synthetic construct, fitted with an export tag for transportation out of the cell, and a histidine tag (6x His) for purification purposes.

Applications

Miraculin can be used as a sweetener.

Miraculin is a glycoprotein made by plant cells, therefore a yeast like S. cerevisiae would make a better expression host than bacteria. We codon optimize the part for yeast expression. In Addtion, we added few more features:
1. ADH1 - strong constitutive promoter for S. cerevisiae.
2. His tag for purification
3. ADH1 terminator for more effective expression.
