RNA polymerase omega subunit
This part contains a sequence that codes for RNA polymerase omega subunit. Expressed with other 4 subunits, this subunit can be used to assemble RNA polymerase core enzyme.
It is the smallest subunit of bacterial RNA polymerase (amino acid 91) of E. coli. During assembly of a core enzyme it attaches last and contacts with b’-subunit and only with it. This subunit has been demonstrated to be essential for the correct folding of a b’-subunit, participate in attracting an s-subunit to a core enzyme and be a target for some transcriptional factors regulating the functioning of RNA polymerase (ppGpp).
