Our team established the part to for detecting and reducing heavy metals. We use merR as a promoter. Only if mercury ions exist, the GFP on the downstream of merR will be expressed. So we can detect mercury ions using this part. Also, the protein will be secreted into periplasm and will reduce mercuric ions. We tested the binding efficiency of RG. (Fig.1)
