Performance Data of BBa_M36401
Our first trial showed results that were promising. When using varying amounts of salicylic acid, we were able to observe an increasing amount of methyl salicylate produced for increasing salicylic acid concentrations. We took data for amount of methyl salicylate produced using the GC-MS. We used a logarithmic scale for the amount of salicylic acid added and added .001 mM, .01 mM, .1 mM, 1 mM, 10 mM of salicylic acid. We did not see any production of methyl salicylate at 10 mM which means the concentration of salicylic acid was high enough to kill the E. Coli which was seen as the liquid culture had not growth. We took the methyl salicylate abundance readings from the GC-MS and calculated the mole fractions for the different abundances of methyl salicylate.
