Background of nicD

Part Description

Codon optimized coding sequence of nicD, an enzyme from the Pseudmonas putida bacterium KT2240, for E.Coli. This composite part was used to make our part BBa_K1813015 and BBa_K1813021 .

Part Origin

Originally cloned and characterized by Jimenez et al. from Pseudmonas putida KT2240 [1].

Part Function

The enzyme coded for by nicD is a N-Formylmaleamate Deformylase that converts N-Formylmaleamic (NFM) to Maleamic Acid, also producing formic acid.
