The acyl-CoA thioesterase 2 (tesB) is an enzyme of biosynthetic butyrate pathway. This enzyme is endogenous to Escherichia coli, its substrate is Butyryl coA and the direct product is butyrate. It needs the coenzyme A (coA-SH) for the synthesis of butyrate (Figure 1).
The integrity of our construct was checked by sequencing using VF2 primer.

We used BBa_K1587001 with other genes to produce butyrate in Escherichia coli (Figure 2)
