We tested the function of this part by introducing the pheromone to the S. cerevisiae mating type a cells. Cells transformed with this part were expected to show a growth arrest and the formation of "shmoos". By comparing the OD of a cells without the plasmid, a cells in a medium with pheromone from mating type alpha cells (aF83) and a cells with with our plasmid, this behavior was observed:
