Applications of BBa_K1499401

The protein encoded by this gene has shown potential chitin-binding activity. Pending assays for cellulose-binding activity and hydrophobicity, this protein could be used to waterproof chitin- and cellulose-based biomaterials – specifically in our case, fungal mycelium and bacterial cellulose.
