Following coomassie staining a protein of 39.4 kDa was visible, suggesting that the pre-processed protein was present. However only the processed form of the protein will exhibit activity.

In theory BBa_K1498000 should be suitable to use in assays to degrade keratin rich structures (hair, nails, feathers).

As a protease gelatin degredation should also be observed.
