T7Prom+HisTag+VioDC

This part contains a T7 promoter, lac operator, 6x his tag and the coding sequence for VioD and VioC (enzymes in the violacein production pathway).

Usage and Biology

A device was constructed that contained the two enzymes VioD and VioC which on their own do not produce a pigment.

However, when cells containing this construct were grown together with strains containing our VioABE construct BBa_K726016 , a purple pigment (violacein) was produced. More information on this process can be found on the 2012 UCSF iGEM Violacein Results Page .
