Phosphotransacetylase (PTA) from Escherichia coli

Part of the pta-ack operon in E. coli. PTA converts acetyl-phosphate and CoA into phosphate and acetyl-CoA which can then be sent to the citric acid cycle. This reaction may also run in reverse in order to convert acetyl-CoA into acetyl-phosphate.
