Plac-RBS-LacZ-RBS

Plac promoter (with RBS) followed by LacZ reporter followed by another RBS.

Usage and Biology

This is intended to be used as a promoter and RBS; i.e. it can be added upstream of a coding sequence to cause that sequence to become expressed.

The LacZ reporter will cause lab strains with the correct genotype to turn blue in the presence of Xgal+IPTG.
