BCoAT

It can express BCoAT,butyryl-CoA: acetate CoA-transferase,which is involved in the synthesis of butyrate. Its expression can be utilized to synthesize butyric acid.

Usage and Biology

It can serve as a gene for producing short chain fatty acids and plays an important role in the production of butyric acid by microorganisms.

Characterization

We use gas chromatography to detect the production of short chain fatty acids by strains containing the BCoAT gene in the culture medium, in order to characterize the ability of the BCoAT gene. As shown in Figure 1,the experimental results indicate that the BCoAT gene indeed has the ability to produce short chain fatty acids, especially the production of butyric acid, which shows significant differences compared to the two control groups.
