Applications of BBa_K227006
The pucBA coding region produces the Light Harvesting II (LHII) antennae complexes of Rhodobacter sphaeroides. Controlling the size of these antenna (WashU iGEM 2009 [http://2009.igem.org/Team:Wash_U]) is one method of increasing the light harvesting efficiency of R. sphaeroides. The WashU team also utilized pucBA as a reporter for characterization of the puc promotor (part BBa_K227007[1]), due to it's characteristic absorbance at 800 and 850nm light.
pucBA would be an effective reporter to test the efficacy of other promoters in R. sphaeroides.
