M13K07 gene I
This gene is part of the bacteriophage M13 genome. It encodes a protein that is important for phage maturation. This protein remains in the host cytoplasm to interact with the gXI protein and the OM pore encoded by gIV through which the phage ssDNA is threaded as the phage matures. A second gene (gXI) is encoded at the 3' end of the gene thanks to an internal RBS and second initiation codon.
