AgBS

This gene encodes for the bisabolene synthase derived from Abides grandis and has been codon optimized in cyanobacteria. This sesquiterpene synthase converts farnesyl pyrophosphate to E-α-bisabolene.

Usage and Biology

Bisabolene is an organic chemical with formula C15H24, and is a colorless, water-soluble compound with a market value of about 3460 USD per Kilogram. It is commonly used as a midpoint for the creation of cartenoid terpenes, flavoring of dishes and others. It is also allegedly able to fight cancer cells. In aromatherapy, Bisabolene is mainly used to pacify and calm emotions, and is used frequently in spiritual and incense, such as the recreation of the oud
