Ldh regulated by a magnesium riboswitch
This part was created for the integrated human practice part of the Ionis Paris module. It was realized by adding the riboswitch to the sensing design used for our Cobatect project. Unfortunately, this part couldn't be tested in the lab.
More details can be found on (BBa_K911001) , but we tried to sum up some information found on this part :
When magnesium is not linked to the RNA, the riboswitch works as a regulatory element, truncating transcripts. It has four Mg2+ binding sites, which gives it switch-like functionality. The binding of Mg2+ to these sites causes the regulatory region of the riboswitch to compress, which acts as an anti-terminator in its unbound state. When this anti-terminator action is lost, the gene's transcription is terminated by a downstream terminator (contained in the sequence).
