Part:BBa_K2469003
LacILOV mCherry
Composite part consisting of LacILOV (BBa_K2469001) under control of the BBa_J23101 promoter, constituting a light-regulated reporter construct. The reporter mCherry is under the control of the Prtc-2 promoter, which is bound by LacILOV in the absence of blue light.
Combination of the light, oxygen & voltage-sensitive domain of Avena sativa phototropin 1 (LOV2) with the DNA-binding region of the repressor protein naturally responsible for switching from glucose to lactose metabolism (LacI). This novel transcriptional regulator represses promoters under the control of the LacI. In the absense of blue light, LacILOV will act as a repressor, and in the presence of blue light (465nm) this protein will disassociate from the promoter.
Therefore, in the presence of blue light at wavelength 465nm, mCherry is transcribed and produced.
