dcmA-gene with N-terminal pdu-microcompartment tag, codon optimised for E.coli (K12)
dcmA is a gene coding for the enzyme dichloromethane dehalogenase from Methylobacterium extorquens (DM4). This enzyme is a member of the glutathione-dependent-S-transferase family and catalyses the following reaction: DCM (dichloromethane) + 2H2O -> formaldehyde + 2 HCl We have attached the N-terminal targeting sequence for the pdu-microcomartment to this part in order to allow for the insertion of this enzyme into the microcompartment.
