DFFb (CAD)-coding sequence for H. sapien DNA fragmentation factor beta
DFFb (DNA fragmentation factor beta polypeptide) a.k.a CAD (caspase activated DNase) is activated by cleavage from its inhibitor by Caspase 3. Once free, CAD forms homo-dimers with other free CAD molecules leaving at crevice at the C3 domain which aids in the function of DNA fragmentation by essentially forming two blades in a pair of scissors (Woo et al., 2004) This is a key step in apoptosis. This sequence was originally obtained from NCBI (accession # NM_004402.2, but we modified the sequence to prevent cleavage by restriction enzymes at internal restriction sites. This was done by replacing the third base at each of these codons.
